Before you fly
- Roaming packages need roaming switched on for your number first, usually through the operator app or helpline. If you choose an eSIM, leave data roaming off on your Pakistani SIM.
- If you mainly need calls to Saudi numbers, an operator bundle with minutes can make sense. For WhatsApp, maps and video calls, an eSIM is better value.
- Postpaid roaming is billed after your trip: check the per-MB rate outside your package, because using data after the bundle runs out can be very expensive.
- Install the eSIM in Pakistan on Wi-Fi and switch it on when you land in Jeddah or Madinah.
- Most eSIM providers take Visa or Mastercard debit cards. Enable international online payments for your card in your banking app first; some banks block them by default. A few providers also accept Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.

Frequently asked questions
Which is cheaper for Saudi Arabia: Jazz, Zong or Ufone roaming?
It changes with each offer, so compare the price per GB in the table above. In most cases a Saudi eSIM with the same data and validity costs less than all of them.
Do I lose my Pakistani number if I use an eSIM in Saudi Arabia?
No. Your Pakistani SIM stays in the phone. You can still receive calls and SMS codes on it, and WhatsApp stays on your Pakistani number. Only the internet comes from the eSIM.
Can I use roaming and an eSIM together?
Yes. Some travellers keep a small roaming bundle for calls and use an eSIM for data. Just make sure mobile data is set to the eSIM so your operator does not charge you for data.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most iPhones from the XS/XR onwards, recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Many budget Android phones sold in Pakistan do not. Dial *#06# and look for an EID number.
